SCPL is fortunate to have several digital collections of local history materials.  Please click on the links below to explore these materials.

Digital Collection

The Smyth County Public Library’s digital collection arose from a collaboration between the Smyth County Genealogical Society and the library.  Many residents allowed their materials to be scanned for the archive and others donated their time to help scan the items.  The collection consists of photographs, documents, and other items.  

Digital Yearbook Collection

Another wonderful collaboration by the Smyth County Genealogical Society with the Library of Virginia produced this digital yearbook collection.  Many residents loaned their yearbooks to be sent to the Library of Virginia to be scanned and uploaded to the Internet Archive.  The collection currently consists of 89 yearbooks spanning the years of 1941-1977.
