Rev. Charles Cummings and the Fincastle Resolutions of 1775
January 27 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
The Reverend Charles Cummings was one of the principal forces behind the 1775 Fincastle Resolutions, a message to the Continental Congress making clear local opposition to heavy handed British measures implemented in reaction to the Boston Tea Party. The Resolutions were an important step on the path to the American Revolution. Join us for a lively presentation of this historical figure’s perspective on this key moment in our national history.
This event is the first in a series sponsored by the Smyth County VA250 committee that will run through the summer of 2025 connecting local events, people, and places to the 250th anniversary of American independence.
