Join us for our Teen Hangout on Tuesday 8/4 at 4pm!

Know how to play American-style Mahjongg?  Join us at 10am at the Marion Public Library for a morning of this a fascinating rummy-like game, that combines skill and luck –played with tiles rather than cards. Table space is limited to 8 players, so be sure to email RachelG@scplva.net to let us know you are interested.   We will provide the tile games and annual Mahjongg cards for use at the library (cannot be taken home) and even a snack to keep you going.  FREE.  Ages 18+. Table space is limited to 8-12 players, so be sure to email rachelg@scplva.net to let us know you are interested.   We will provide the tile games and annual Mahjongg cards for use at the library (cannot be taken home) and even a snack to keep you going.  FREE.  Ages 18+ Don’t know how to play?  We can teach you. Be sure to email us rachelg@scplva.net to make sure we are set up to teach.  Players new to the game will need to either come a bit early on Wednesday evening (5:30pm) to learn some basics beforehand and will be paired with another player for the first few times you play.  Can’t play in the evenings?  Check out Mahjongg Mornings, Wednesdays at 10am.

Join us August 10th at the Marion Public Library for a night of Paper Bag Junk Journaling from 6 to 8pm. No experience needed. Paper Bag Junk Journaling is a creative, sustainable, and cost-effective way to make journals using recycled paper lunch bags as signatures. They are popular for creating built-in pockets and tuck spots, offering a rustic, vintage look that is perfect for mixed-media art, memories, and scrapbooking.  Each session is limited to 18.

Want to learn about various ways that you can support your local library? Join us on Tuesday, August 11th at 6:00pm at the Chilhowie Library for our monthly Friends meeting. This group normally meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm and everyone is welcome to attend.
