Beginning Sewing Workshop in the SCPL Makery with Joshua Blane – Create a Christmas Stocking or Tote Bag

Join us in the Makery on July 11th at 11:00am to create a holiday tote bag or Christmas stocking.

This workshop is open to adults or kids 12 and older. The cost is $10 per person to attend.

Joshua Blane graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles, California with a degree in Apparel Design & Textile Science in. He has a combined 10 years of design experience, ranging from bespoke wedding gowns to costumes for the stage. Post-pandemic he moved back to his birthplace of SWVA to work as a curator at the William King Museum of Art, specializing in collection management that includes many historical Appalachian textiles such as quilts, samplers, and clothing. Most importantly- Joshua believes that sewing, mending, and needlecraft are enduring skills that should be maintained and passed down from generation to generation.
