The QUILL & GAVEL Society: A Writers’ Group

Join us at the library’s D.C. Miller Law Office (behind the library) for The Quill & Gavel Society, a weekly writers’ group to connect with fellow writers, gain motivation, and improve your craft. Whether you are a beginner or old hand, this is a supportive and productive environment to share excerpts of your work and have scheduled writing time. This is not primarily a critique group; however, you may receive constructive feedback, if wanted, on excerpts from members of the group. We welcome all genres and strive to create a consistent, welcoming space for writers to grow* together.
We are limited in space to 5 people at this time; please pre-register by emailing rachelg@scplva.net to make sure we still have space.
Ages 18+. Free.
Currently scheduled sessions: Wednesdays, October 8th, 15th, 22nd & 29th @6pm.
(*Note: We will NOT be able to help you with your publishing efforts aside from possibly recommending a book resource for your research. Any feedback received is that of the individual giving it, not of the Smyth County Public Library. Any feedback you give or receive is expected to be respectful and constructive. All work product remains the property of the author.)
