SRP: Learn the Hieroglyphic Alphabet (Ages 18+)
at -
Join us on Wednesday, June 3rd at 6pm to learn how to write using the hieroglyphic alphabet. This year's Summer Reading Program theme is Unearth a Story – Dinosaurs/Archaeology/Paleontology. Our adult events will focus mainly on ancient civilizations, their customs & historical sites as discovered by archeologists. In this workshop, participants explore the ancient Egyptian writing system and step into the role of a scribe. Using a simplified hieroglyphic alphabet chart, students learn to translate their own names into ancient symbols. This class combines historical learning with a hands-on craft to create a personalized souvenir — a papyrus bookmark that spells out your name in hieroglyphics. (Papyrus is the ancestor of modern paper.)

Don’t know how to play? You're in luck! It is INSTRUCTION WEEK!
We can teach you. Normally, new players need to come a bit early (5 or 5:15pm) to learn some basics beforehand and will be paired with another player for the first few times you play. But, this week, our time is extended until 9pm so players can have a more intensive learning experience before playing their first game. Players who do not need instruction can play as usual.
